The Hague Netherlands / Burlington MA, March 6, 2017 – Cassini announced today that it has obtained approval to market the Cassini corneal shape analyzer in South Korea (ROK). This is another important milestone in the International expansion of Cassini. The market introduction and approval is the result of the successful partnership with leading Intraocular Lens company Ophtec, where Cassini is part of Ophtecs’ premium package with the Precizon Toric IOL. This combination offers surgeons the opportunity to combine premium diagnostics with premium IOL’s to achieve best refractive outcomes for cataract patients.

Cassini CEO Jeroen Cammeraat comments “Cassini allows surgeons to effectively diagnose total corneal astigmatism, including the measurement of the posterior cornea. This has proven to be critical in eliminating refractive surprises and achieving spectacle independent results for patients. This is what ultimately drives outstanding patient satisfaction and the growth of the premium channel for surgeons and industry.”

Ophtec and Cassini initially launched their joint premium offering in Spain and decided last year to expand their successful partnership to Germany and now South Korea. Erik-Jan Worst, CEO at Ophtec adds: “South Korea is one of the leading markets in the world in terms of scientific, clinical and business expertise in Ophthalmology. Ophtec has a 30 year track record of being an innovator itself and is proud to have many leading Korean surgeons as its customers. We are excited to now add this high performance diagnostic platform with the Precizon Toric IOL to the armamentarium of our customers”

About Cassini

Cassini pioneers smart and superior eye diagnosis solutions that are affordable, fast and user-friendly for care providers worldwide to serve their patients best.

Cassini Total Corneal Astigmatism helps cataract surgeons to better understand corneal properties in order to improve outcomes and increase premium patient volume. Cassini offers a full suite of examinations required for toric and multifocal IOL implantation. This includes corneal topography, mesopic and photopic pupillometry as well as full color photography for diagnostic purpose. The technology employs red, green yellow and IR LEDs that are each positioned in a unique relationship to four of its neighbors, giving each one a ’gps-like’ coordinate. Cassini uses the ray-tracing principle to measure the relative position of each point, using the three different colors as ‘triangulation’ points.
