Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Representative based in the United States of America, to join our team in driving sales within the cataract market. Overall, the primary goal of the Business Development Representative, within the Commercial team, is to generate and nurture quality leads and facilitate the conversion of prospects into loyal customers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Identifying and prospecting potential clients or customers through various channels such as cold calling, email campaigns, social media outreach and networking.
  • Qualifying Leads: Assessing the suitability of leads by understanding their needs, pain points, and potential fit for our products.
  • Building Rapport: Establishing and nurturing relationships with prospects to understand their requirements better and position the company's offerings effectively.
  • Appointment Setting: Scheduling meetings for Sales Account Executives or Sales Managers with qualified leads to further explore business opportunities.
  • Pipeline Management: Managing and tracking leads through the CRM systems; Pipedrive and Exact, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining an organized pipeline of prospects.
  • Collaboration with Sales Team: Working closely with the marketing and sales team to hand off qualified leads smoothly and provide necessary background information to facilitate the sales process.
  • Metrics Tracking: Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators such as lead conversion rates, pipeline velocity and outreach effectiveness to assess performance and optimize strategies.

Qualifications and attributes:

  • A degree in sales / business / marketing and minimum 2 years related work experience is preferred. 
  • Prior experience in business development, or customer service roles is highly beneficial. This could include internships or entry-level sales positions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with prospects, understanding their needs, and articulating the value proposition of our products.
  • The ability to overcome objections, and handle rejections gracefully is crucial in this role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, market research, and Pipedrive and Exact software is advantageous for tracking leads, assessing performance metrics, and making data-driven decisions.
  • A customer-centric mindset, empathy, and a genuine desire to understand and address customer needs are key qualities for building rapport and fostering long-term relationships with clients.
  • Business Development Representatives often work independently and need to be proactive in identifying opportunities, managing their time effectively and consistently achieving targets.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions, customer preferences and company strategies is essential.
  • While the role may involve independent tasks, collaboration with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing and customer service is vital.
  • Familiarity with the ophthalmic industry is advantageous.
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions with prospects, clients and colleagues is essential for building trust and credibility.
