Mark Maire
Chief Executive Officer

 

 

 

Mark started his career in ophthalmology in 1993 working first for J&J’s IOLab and then Chiron Vision. In 2008, he joined TrueVision Systems, Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA. As Chief Revenue Officer, Mark developed TrueVision’s partner strategy which created the first cash positive quarters. Together TrueVision and Cassini created the first ever surgical guidance and toric lens alignment software in ophthalmic surgery.

 

Mark brought in both Alcon ($7B spin-off from Novartis) and Aesculap ($2B division of B. Braun) as key strategic partners ultimately selling the ophthalmology assets to Alcon. The spin-off neurosurgery company, Digital Surgery Systems, is positioned for acquisition. Mark was named in the Alcon acquisition and worked as a National Surgical Consultant in visualization. He is a graduate of The University of Michigan, board member of LauchPoint EPS (aerospace) and brings over 30 years of business leadership and ophthalmology industry knowledge to Cassini Technologies.

Richard Spijkers
Chief Financial & Operating Officer

 

 

 

Richard’s expertise extends to the intersections of finance and development of technology, with a particular focus on software development and artificial intelligence.

 

Richard started his career managing programmers and developing software tools. He then joined Bain & Company, where he worked mostly in private equity and technology industries. Afterwards, he worked as an Investment Director at deeptech venture capital firm Innovation Industries. Here he focused on the development and commercialization of technologies in the fields of semiconductors, medical technology, software and AI/ML.

 

Richard has been involved with Cassini since 2018 and holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology.

Ernst Serfontein
Chief Commercial & Product Officer

 

 

 

Ernst has a vested interest in vision-care and holds various degrees within the Ophthalmic space. His passion for continual education, both clinically and commercially, has taken him on an elaborate global journey for the last 25 years.

 

Ernst’s experience ranges from start-ups, like private practices and Cassini Technologies, to prominent international corporates, like Specsavers Opticians, Optical Express and Bausch & Lomb Surgical, in roles encompassing Application, Marketing & Sales, B2B partnership, KOL relationship, Clinical Affairs and Product Development.

 

His ethical business practice, influential network, ever-growing expertise and effective leadership ability enables strategic thinking, innovation and dynamic action. Ernst is a Visionaire and understands what is needed in taking a product from infancy to commercial viability.

 

Ernst joined Cassini Technologies in 2013 prior to product commercialization and has shown true growth throughout his journey with the Cassini family.

Masmei Ginting
Vice President of Research & Development

 

 

Masmei has over 20 years of research and development experience, 12 of which have been specifically dedicated to medical device research and development.

 

Over the years she’s held various roles including People and Project Management, Architect, Researcher and Software Developer.

 

Apart from her diverse expertise and leadership ability, Masmei has lived and worked in multiple countries – this experience contributes to her capacity to effectively navigate and communicate with various cultures both intra and intercompany.

 

She has background in Computer Vision and Computer Science, and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Tokyo.
