The Hague Netherlands / Burlington MA, March 6, 2017 – Cassini announced today that it has obtained approval to market the Cassini corneal shape analyzer in South Korea (ROK). This is another important milestone in the International expansion of Cassini. The market introduction and approval is the result of the successful partnership with leading Intraocular Lens company Ophtec, where Cassini is part of Ophtecs’ premium package with the Precizon Toric IOL. This combination offers surgeons the opportunity to combine premium diagnostics with premium IOL’s to achieve best refractive outcomes for cataract patients.

Cassini Total Corneal Astigmatism helps cataract surgeons to better understand corneal properties in order to improve outcomes and increase premium patient volume. Cassini offers a full suite of examinations required for toric and multifocal IOL implantation. This includes corneal topography, mesopic and photopic pupillometry as well as full color photography for diagnostic purpose. The technology employs red, green yellow and IR LEDs that are each positioned in a unique relationship to four of its neighbors, giving each one a ’gps-like’ coordinate. Cassini uses the ray-tracing principle to measure the relative position of each point, using the three different colors as ‘triangulation’ points.
